Orton Gillingham Method

Step By Step

The most important benefit of our one-on-one and small group multi-sensory tutoring programs is the confidence we foster in our students. Success is quickly achieved in reading, writing and math, learning at their own pace through the sensory pathways. Learning through our multiple senses (hearing, speaking, seeing and writing) aids a child with learning challenges in understanding previously hard to grasp material.
The Orton Gillingham method begins with testing and evaluation to develop an individualized learning plan. The tutor starts off by teaching the sounds of phonograms as separate units, and then moving on to blending them into syllables and words. The student then moves on to vocabulary, sentence structure, composition, and reading comprehension. As students learn new material, they continue to review old material to the level of automaticity.
